Business VoIP services 'proving popular in 2010'

Businesses are moving towards hosted and business VoIP services, according to several new reports from Infonetics.

The series of studies into the unified communications market highlighted that while the enterprise telephony market was hard hit last year, the technology is currently in demand among businesses.

"It appears that the bleeding has stopped and 2010 promises to be a better year, good news for vendors and service providers alike," said Matthias Machowinski, directing analyst for enterprise voice and data at Infonetics Research.

The research highlighted that IP connectivity services are the fastest growing segment of the business VoIP services market, followed by hosted VoIP and unified communications services.

Last month, a report released by the Synergy Research Group highlighted that growth in the unified communications market for enterprises is being driven by IP telephony.

It was found that VoIP technology represented around 70 per cent of the total sector in western Europe last year.
